ITALY 2020

Welcome to Italy

The Italian culture is commonly associated with art, music and food. It is the homeland of the Roman Empire, the Roman Catholic Church and the main center of the Renaissance, which flourished through Europe for centuries.

Art can be viewed in every corner of Italy, not only in the Galleria Borghese, Galeri dell’Accademia, Venice and Rome, but also in the churches and public buildings. The most famous piece of art is the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel of the Vatican, which was painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512. Italy also produced other great artists like Leon Battista Alberti, Raffaello Sanzio, Michaelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci.

Talk about Italian cultures & society. In Italy, traditional music differs from region to region and is heavily influenced by its historical past. In the northern region of Italy, for example, music has strong Celtic influences, while the southern half of the country has hints of Greek and Arabic influences. Most traditional music is rich in religious meaning.

The family is the centre of the social structure and provides a stabilizing influence for its members. In the north, generally only the nuclear family lives together; while in the south, the extended family often resides together in one house. If you’re lucky enough to have ever eaten in an Italian family home, you’ll be well aware of how generous Italian people are to guests, particularly when it comes to food.

Outgoing Program focused on invite local volunteers abroad and discussing the issues that exist in the world. As an example, the volunteers will be involved in the creative and manual activities, enhancing relationships with local people, environmental, agricultural games, etc.
